Presidential Notes - Welcoming Address

Colon cancer is the second leading cause of new cancer cases and deaths for both men and women in Maine. In 2010, nearly 800 Mainers were diagnosed with colon cancer and 270 died from the disease. If you do not have insurance or your insurance will not pay for a colonscopy, call The Maine Colorectal Cancer Control Program Colon Screening Hotline at 1-877-320-6800.

Linda Gondeck, MSGNA President 2011

I am honored and excited to serve as President of MSGNA for 2011.

Being involved with MSGNA has allowed me to have the wonderful opportunity to meet and network with other GI nurses. You can too!!! I would encourage nurses and techs to become involved in MSGNA. It’s a great opportunity for personal and professional growth.

MSGNA offers conferences in the Spring and Fall. I would encourage everyone to attend these so we can stay up to date in our practices and so that we can educate our patients and provide the best GI nursing care possible. We all need to continue to spread the word that “Screening Colonoscopies saves lives”.

Each and every one of you can make a difference.
